Ingredients
Scale
Sausage and Vegetables
- 14 ounces smoked sausage, sliced into thin rounds
- 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings and Oils
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the Sausage: Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until lightly browned. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté the Onion: In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the sliced onion. Cook for about 2 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
- Stir Fry Cabbage: Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet and stir fry for 5 to 7 minutes, until it starts to soften but retains a slight crunch.
- Combine and Season: Return the browned sausage to the skillet and stir to combine with the cabbage mixture. Add soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
- Finish Cooking: Cook everything together for another 2 to 3 minutes while stirring to let the flavors meld and heat through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your flavorful and hearty stir fry!
