Description

Heaven On Earth Cake is a delightful no-bake layered dessert featuring angel food cake cubes, creamy vanilla pudding, tangy cherry pie filling, and a fluffy whipped topping. This easy-to-make American classic combines light textures and sweet fruit flavors, making it perfect for gatherings or a refreshing treat after meals.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 prepared angel food cake, cut into cubes
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping, thawed
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pudding mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until the mixture thickens. Then stir in the sour cream until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. Layer the cake and cherry pie filling: In a 9×13 inch dish, spread half of the angel food cake cubes evenly across the bottom. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake pieces, ensuring even coverage.
  3. Add pudding layer: Spread half of the prepared pudding mixture evenly over the cherry pie filling layer.
  4. Repeat layers: Add the remaining angel food cake cubes on top of the pudding, then spread the remaining pudding mixture evenly over the cake cubes.
  5. Top with cherry filling: Spoon the rest of the cherry pie filling over the top pudding layer and gently spread it out to cover the surface evenly.
  6. Chill the cake: Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to soften.
  7. Add whipped topping and almonds: Before serving, spread the whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top if desired for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For best flavor, chill the cake overnight to allow the layers to blend fully.
  • You can substitute cherry pie filling with blueberry or strawberry pie filling to vary the fruit flavor.
  • Sliced toasted almonds add a nice crunchy texture but are optional based on preference.
