Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
Sauce and Seasonings
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking Oils and Others
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare ingredients: Wash and cut the broccoli into florets. Slice the onion and mince the garlic and ginger to have everything ready for cooking.
- Brown the ground beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully browned.
- Drain excess fat: Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat from the pan to ensure a healthier dish.
- Sauté aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Sauté the minced garlic, ginger, and sliced onion until fragrant and softened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Cook broccoli: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they turn bright green but remain crisp.
- Mix the sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Add sauce to skillet: Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to evenly coat all ingredients.
- Simmer and thicken: Allow the mixture to simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients nicely.
- Season to taste: Taste the dish and add salt and pepper as needed for perfect seasoning.
- Serve: Once the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through, remove from heat and serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
Notes
- Use fresh broccoli for the best texture and flavor.
- Feel free to substitute beef broth with chicken broth or water in a pinch.
- To keep it lower fat, drain excess beef fat thoroughly after browning.
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
