Ingredients
Scale
Seafood
- 1 lb (450g) fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
Pie Crust
- 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
Filling
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Monterey Jack)
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Cooking
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking the shrimp)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pie.
- Sauté garlic: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Cook shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning with Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Prepare filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, sour cream, shredded cheese, and chopped green onions. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Combine shrimp and filling: Fold the cooked shrimp into the creamy filling until evenly distributed.
- Blind bake crust (optional): If using a homemade or rolled pie crust, fit it into a 9-inch pie plate and pre-bake (blind bake) it for 8–10 minutes until slightly firm. Skip this step if using a store-bought crust that’s already in a tin.
- Fill crust: Pour the shrimp filling into the prepared crust and spread evenly.
- Bake the pie: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden.
- Cool and serve: Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
- Using sour cream or Greek yogurt is optional and can be substituted based on preference.
- Blind baking the pie crust helps prevent sogginess but can be skipped if your crust is pre-baked.
- Old Bay seasoning can be replaced with any seafood seasoning blend.
- This pie is best served warm for optimal flavor and texture.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
