Description

This Easy Baked Caesar Chicken recipe features tender boneless, skinless chicken breasts baked to perfection with creamy Caesar dressing, melted provolone cheese, and a crunchy Caesar-style crouton topping. Ready in just 35 minutes, it’s a simple and delicious way to enjoy classic Caesar flavors in a hearty, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to an even thickness)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Toppings

  • ½ cup creamy Caesar dressing
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup Caesar-style croutons

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and help with even cooking.
  2. Prepare the chicken. Arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer inside the greased baking dish. Season both sides evenly with salt and black pepper to enhance the flavor.
  3. Add Caesar dressing and cheese. Spread the creamy Caesar dressing evenly over each chicken breast. Then, layer the sliced provolone cheese on top, covering every piece thoroughly for a rich and melty topping.
  4. Prepare crouton topping. Place the Caesar-style croutons in a large Ziplock bag and crush them into crumbs. Sprinkle these crumbs evenly over the cheese layer to add a crispy, flavorful crust.
  5. Bake the chicken. Bake the dish on the center oven rack for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the topping turns a golden brown. To prevent the crumb topping from browning too quickly, loosely tent the dish with aluminum foil for the remainder of the baking time. Ensure the chicken’s internal temperature reaches 165°F for safe consumption.

Notes

  • Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness to ensure uniform cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F to avoid undercooking.
  • If croutons are not Caesar-style, add a pinch of garlic powder or parmesan to mimic the flavor.
  • For a lighter option, substitute provolone with part-skim mozzarella.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
